Buyer Success Story: Manna Development Corporation, Detroit, Michigan
Manna Development Corporation recently worked with a family of seven to help them move into a suitable home in the city of Detroit. The family hoped for a comfortable home in a safer neighborhood in which to raise their children, all under the age of 11. MDC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to revitalizing Detroit City neighborhoods.
The home needed major rehabilitation. In fact, MDC spent more than $30,000 to get the home ready for the family. With help from their community partners, they were able to paint the entire home, add a new kitchen, new carpet and tile, new fixtures, new doors, new mechanicals including an A/C unit, and they fenced in the backyard so the children would have a safe place to play.
The home is in the Ridgefield subdivision, which is a sought-after neighborhood, and was important to MDC’s neighborhood stabilization strategy because of it being so near the historical Livernois Avenue and sought-after Outer Drive neighborhoods. Thanks to their community partners, they were able to complete the needed rehabilitation and donate the home to this well deserving family.
“Our family is so appreciative to Manna Development Corporation for our home. This move has allowed us to live in a great area within Detroit that is both safer and peaceful. There aren’t too many days that pass without us or our children commenting on how much we love our home. Thank you again MDC for the vision to provide and assist families with affordable and great housing. We appreciate everything that you are doing in the community!”
